"Hey, Kalia!" Sonia's voice bubbled with childish excitement as she ducked her head in a room. It was empty. She frowned slightly and bounded off to visit the next. "You in here?"
Another empty room. She wasn't used to living in such a massive establishment and had plans on rigging up a system to check which rooms were occupied. So far, they hadn't gotten beyond mere ponderings, but each time she scoured the place to find somebody, it got more tempting to go through with it.
"Kalia?" The room she ducked into was a flurry of movement as its occupant fumbled about nervously. Sonia grinned in amusement at the man's reaction.
"Mistress... I did not expect you." the young vampire stuttered.
Sonia gave a polite bow. Since marking her name as one of the major players in the Vampire families, some of the more wildcard vampires had pledged their allegiance to her. While she had no real number of vampires she had sired personally or indirectly, her house was beginning to fill up. Even so, her 'family' had barely began to make the place lively, leaving a lot of empty rooms.
"Have you seen Miss Tsuna?" she inquired politely.
"Sh... She's a few rooms over..." he fumbled about some more. Sonia had a daunting reputation and her eccentric attitude lead many who served under her to assume she was no less than deadly insane. It worked in her favour, it kept people in line.
"Thank you."
Sonia darted out of the room and sprinted a few rooms over, spotting a flash of green out of the corner of her eye and backing up.
"Kalia!" she exclaimed, any attempt at hiding her emotions would have fell over on a glance at the ear to ear grin on her face. "I have a surprise for you!"
Kalia had been going over a job description before Sonia walked in. Past experience had taught her to double and triple check contracts before accepting them.
"Sonia"
Kalia beamed as her sire walked into her room. Both the fact that her lover had interrupted her and the interruption itself were welcomed. It showed as she ignored the paperwork. Some of the papers fell to the ground as she moved over to Sonia and gave her a hug.
"What surprise?" She asked, sounding impatient already. "Tell me already"
Sonia launched herself over to Kalia. The amount of energy she was giving off, one would wonder if she had began fiddling around with her collection of illicit drugs.
"You know how you're always having trouble finding the right green for your hair?" If it was possible, she would have blinded Kalia with her grin. Instead, she grabbed her by the shoulders, dragging her out of the chair from the room.
"Come on, I gotta show you what I'm working on!" she exclaimed, leading the woman to wherever she was headed, ignoring any pleading for closure on what she was rambling about.
"Yeah... why? You found a supply for the right shade?"
Kalia asked. Unlike the rest of the place, she was used to Sonia's eccentric behaviour and took her excitement as a positive rather than something to be cautious about.
"Alright alright alright.. I'm comming.. " She retorted to Sonia practically dragging her out of the room.
"What are you working on?" she asked, sounding as curious as she felt at the same time wondering what insanity Sonia had come up with this time.
Sonia dragged Kalia down to her makeshift lab in one of the basement levels of the mansion she'd renovated over the years, muttering incoherently to Kalia along the way. Nobody entered this level unless Sonia brought them in. Half because anyone who would was either too scared or uninterested in what she was up to, half because thick steel doors were a good deterrent.
"Okay, sit here for a sec. I got something so you don't have to worry about dying anymore." She pushed Kalia off into a seat and turned around to face her son, sitting on the bench. He was playing with some of the vials left neatly in a rack, now not exactly neat as they were scattered in front of him.
"Uhh..." She pried the vials out of his hands and placed them back in the rack as neat as she could figure for now, scolding him with a dirty look. His response was something akin to his candy being taken away from him, something that got him placed back on the floor.
"Right, here we are!" Sonia grabbed a vial from another rack and reached up to a high cabinet on the ceiling, pulling out a peculiar metallic cylinder. She turned around to face Kalia again as she locked the vial into the cylinder, showing that it was one of her fancy syringes.
"I've been fiddling around with dna alteration and figured I'd form a practical application. This here should turn your hair naturally green." Sonia smiled as she spoke and began approaching Kalia almost predatory.
She took a seat, more because Sonia pushed her towards it than because she wanted to. What she wanted was to see what Sonia had planned. Obviously, not having to bother about the right shade of green was something she could appreciate and part of her thought it was sweet that Sonia had taken the time to search for such a thing.
"Uh.. Sonia?"
She asked as she saw Sonia remove her son from the table and apparently get stuck on what it was she was looking for.
"You're sure about this, right? You're not just simply testing something here? Right?"
Not that Sonia's words did anything to assure her of such. Altering dna wasn't something Kalia was interested in. She'd seen her fair share of dna altered beings and knew that she herself, had been altered that way when she became a vampire. Even though Sonia gave the impression that it was just an experiment and she had no idea what would happen, Kalia had that deep rooted believe that Sonia knew what she was doing, that nothing bad was happening or could happen.

"Of course I'm sure!" Sonia exclaimed, excited she seemed open to the idea. "What could possibly go wrong?"
She leaned in closer to Kalia, giving the syringe another quick check to see if everything was in place and wouldn't fall apart instead of injecting her. Her free hand, tilted the woman's head to the side gently and brushed some hair out of the way to have access to her neck.
"This'll only hurt a tiny bit." As she spoke, she pressed the cylinder against Kalia's neck and squeezed it. There was a small and abrupt hiss and the contents ejected themselves through her skin through multiple points. Something that'd leave a strange multi puncture mark for a few moments.
"There we go!" She placed the now empty cylinder on the desk to her right and picked up a swab, running it over the area gently. "Now, it should take a few minutes to run through your blood stream and then I can take a blood test to see if it ran through properly or your immune system caught it."
She leaned in and gave Kalia a quick peck on the lips before leaning down to pick up her son.
"I'm gonna put this little guy to bed, so just sit tight for a few minutes." Sonia reassured her. A few extra incomprehensible words were muttered to the child, then she made her way out of the lab.
The look Sonia received for asking what possibly could go wrong showed that Kalia could think of a million things that could go wrong, the mildest one being that it simply would not work.
"ouch ouch ouch!" Kalia complained as the cylinder made contact with her neck, not that it actually hurt, just that Sonia had said it would.
Rubbing her neck where the pinpricks were starting to show, she simply nodded, acknowledging Sonia's instructions and sat there, waiting for whatever was going to happen to happen.
She did not have to wait long for a tingly feeling to make itself known to her. It continued for a bit, making her head feel fuzzy and light headed whilst it did its work. Not that the feeling was all bad, she just generally stayed clear headed and different parts of her body didn't attempt to go to sleep on her.
She shook her head, trying to clear the fuzziness before looking at her hands and getting the distinct feeling that they looked different than before. Different enough for her to lift a hand up infront of her face and slowly turn it whilst watching it.
It looked different to her, like the molecules of its shape appeared to be changing shape.
"Nah.. can't be" She mumbled. There was no way that her hand was changing shape. Sonia had said the part of her changing dna was her hair, not her hand. Not that it made it any better. If what she was seeing wasn't real, she was hallucinating and for someone who was clean when it came to drugs, that was a scary thing. And yet, the fuzziness made everything ok.
"Sonia?" She asked randomly, unaware if Sonia was back or not. somehow, the entire thing seemed unreal and she found herself scared and wanting her lover there with her while the change occurred.

The door to the lab slid open and Sonia strolled in nonchalantly, oblivious to Kalia's concern for the moment. There was half a glance at her to make sure she was still sitting there, but no notice was taken. Her mind was too busy focusing on something else, grabbing a few components from the shelves directly across from Kalia, right up until she spoke up.
Sonia turned around with half a syringe instrument in her hand. She tilted her head out of curiosity. Kalia looked rather unsettled and at first glance, she saw nothing to be flustered about. The woman staring at her hand intently made her realise she once again managed to leave out some vital information.
She flashed a comforting smile.
"Not to worry. That weird feeling is just a drug mixed in to the retrovirus to avoid any pain from the change. I might have put a bit too much in but it should... be..." Sonia slowed down and was stopped mid sentence when what Kalia was staring at finally caught her eye.
Her jaw dropped slightly at the sight of her lovers fingers slowly lengthening themselves as well as the nails on them solidifying and shaping themselves into what looked like claws. She spun around and grabbed an empty vial, quickly assembling the rest of the syringe while looking over the various coloured vials on display.
She turned back around and gave Kalia a glance up and down before reaching out to her arm.
"That isn't supposed to happen, let me take a blood test..." The syringe was pressed against her skin, painlessly drawing a small amount of blood.
Shuffling to the side, she dismantled the vial and placed it in a socket, typing something into the keyboard on the table next to Kalia. In the mean time, she kept throwing glances at her to see how far it was going.
She was glad that Sonia was here and that she assured her that it was ok and would wear off. Somewhere in the back of her mind, she even understood the logic of the hallucinogen that Sonia had mixed in.
Tilting her head slightly to look at Sonia, she curiously wondered why Sonia had stopped talking in mid sentence, and after assuring herself that Sonia had indeed stopped talking, her eyes went wide as she smiled.
"What isn't supposed to happen?" She asked, showing none of the panic that would be expected from someone who's body seemed to undergo a complete transformation. "Uh.. Sonia? Am I supposed to have claws?" She wondered as her attention was once again taken by looking at the hand in front of her face, opening and closing her hand slowly. Curiously, the now longer nails seem to retract as she closed her fist and returned to their new size as she opened her hand again.
It didn't take overly long for Kalia to test this theory, moving each finger individually and getting the same result, all whilst being thoroughly fascinated by the idea of having retractable nails.
As Sonia finished the small script she was typing up for the on the spot blood test, she noticed Kalia had taken a strange fascination to her hands. She too, began staring in awe for a few moments while she played with the concept of having retractable claws on each finger. Her thoughts were interrupted as she finally registered the questions she was being asked.
"No... You're not supposed to have claws. THAT isn't supposed to happen." It was getting harder and harder for her to show concern as Kalia didn't seem to mind. The fact that what she had in those vials were a number of different DNA mixtures that would produce claws left her more curious than anything. On top of that, she hadn't actually tested any of them on anybody only added to that.
"This blood test is gonna take a bit to narrow down, so just stay calm. Whatever happens while you're changing, okay?" She tried to reassure the poor woman. Not that she was showing any signs of worry in the first place.
Another idea popped into her head and she shuffled her way over in front of her. She reached down and grabbed the bottom of Kalia's top, slowly pulling it up off her.
"Actually, I have a better idea. Take your clothes off and we'll be able to work out what you're turning into."
She blinked a few times as Sonia mentioned that the change that had happened shouldn't have happened. If she wasn't hallucinating the change.. then.. she had claws! Claws was bad, she knew that. At the same time, it was fascinating playing with them, knowing that you could sheeth and unsheeth your claws just had that effect on the smuggler.
At the idea of taking off her clothing, she could not help but grin at Sonia. "A kitty cat?" She asked curiously, sounding nothing like the usual Kalia, who had a bit of a reputation to keep normally and just didn't resort to childishness at all.
As Sonia started to undress her though, she responded to Sonia in the way she usually responded to the woman and put an arm behind Sonia's neck, pulling her closer to herself and kissed her, seconds before giggling.
"What makes you think a cat?" She asked curiously, wondering if Kalia wasn't letting on something Sonia should know.
Instead of pining for the answer, she was greeted with a kiss. Something she couldn't refuse. She leaned in further to continue it on, but was slightly disappointed when it was broken so her lover could take the time to giggle. Not that she blamed her, being under the influence of a powerful sedative. Something which would usually render a normal human unconscious.
"Well, okay..." She spoke up in regards to the giggling as she pulled off Kalia's top. "Anything happening here?"
She reached down as she spoke and began to undo the woman's jeans. Something which she would attempt with whatever subject she would test this on to document the retro viruses effects. Also something that she knew from Kalia's state of mind, it was likely to be taken the wrong way.
"Uhh..." Kalia looked at her own, now naked, upper body and discovered that it appeared to be still vampire, same as before her hands had started to change. "Nah"
No sooner had Sonia reached her pants and started undoing them that Kalia decided that what Sonia really wanted, was not to check if Kalia had changed any more, but Kalia herself. Not that she had any problems with that, truth be known, she quite enjoyed the idea of getting it on with Sonia.
Following her train of thought, she pulled Sonia closer again and started kissing her neck ever so gently, working her way up it and over Sonia's face to finally end at her mouth, whilst the smallest of moans could be heared from Kalia as Sonia undid her pants.
"Hey, Kalia that's not..." Sonia trailed off as Kalia worked her way up her neck. While she wanted to continue investigating what was going on with the woman, she also had nymphomaniac tendencies. The kind where she'd learned at an early age to just go along with any sexual advances due to the ease she could be aroused. Something which was being exploited rather well at this time.
"I meant to say tha..." She was cut off again as the pair locked lips. Placing a hand on the back of Kalia's head, she positioned herself on her lap while being pulled into the chair. She couldn't fight it, but she could get her point across while going along with it. "You're changing into something."
Sonia let out a sigh and pressed herself up against her lover before going in for another passionate kiss while grinding herself on her legs. The kiss was broken a few moments later so she could continue to speak.
"I need your clothes off to see you change and figure out what you're becoming..."
Kalia replied, smiling lazily. She was enjoying this. Her lover seemed to not mind either and hey, the changes couldn't be all that bad, after all, a set of claws had potential.
With that though, and the thought of Sonia's naked body near hers, she took off her clothing, letting it drop next to her rather than putting it into any particularly neat pile. Not only that, but for each piece she took off, she came closer to Sonia again, kissing her or simply trying to remove items of her clothing too.
By the time she was completely naked Sonia would see additional changes in Kalia, specifically, any body hair that had not been removed prior to Sonia's playing around with Kalia's dna was now green too, this was clearly seen by the green eyebrows.
Similarly, there appeared to be markings starting to show that were akin to the markings of a tabby cat but looked more like green-ish tattoos against Kalia's white skin.

Sonia broke off another kiss with Kalia, pulling herself away with great difficulty as she done so. She helped her lover take off her own top, lifting it up over her head and tossing it to the side. Doing so revealed her snow white chest that had remained hidden from the sun for years. A perfect set of small naked breasts adorned themselves in Kalia's face, showing off that gravity had no effect on her body, regardless of age.
Once the top hit the ground, Sonia had stopped in the midst of what she was doing. Her train of thought was completely interrupted when she looked down at the woman she was sitting on. There was no doubt about it now, as far as she knew, Kalia was about to experience some major changes.
"Kalia... You're uhh..." She paused, unsure how to break the news to her. In the midst of it, she wondered how long the drugs effects had to go and if they were responsible for this spontaneous arousal she was currently half enjoying.
"You're turning into a cat." Sonia eventually spoke up bluntly. Straight was usually the best approach. Kalia didn't seem to be left in the dark. Especially pertaining to information about some rather permanent and drastic inhuman changes to her appearance.
Almost timidly, she reached out and ran her hand over the markings on Kalia's abdomen, around her back and up to her shoulder blade. Curiosity got the better of her and the check was to see whether the markings were difference in skin colour or she was growing light patches of fur to go with the change.
Somewhere in the last few minutes whilst the changes were taking shape, Kalia had started to come off the high she had been on and with the lack of high, she started to become aware of the changes happening to her, and with it, the fear of those changes.
Looking at her body, she saw what Sonia had seen previously, the markings that were darker on her pale skin. Running her hand over them, she noticed the distinct feeling of fur, not a lot, but enough to feel it, and horrified, she looked at where Sonia stood next to her.
"Uh.. I'm sprouting fur, Sonia, help"
Whilst she was not quite in full panic mode, Kalia was certainly heading towards it. The fact that she stood completley naked in front of Sonia and changing more and more into a cat did little to help the situation. Even less did the fact that there was now a tail moving from side to side behind her, showing her adgitated state.
"Not cool? This is way cool..." She replied, a child-like amusement spreading across her face. Her hand continued to run its way along her skin and where the patches of fur were showing up, enjoying the light texture of it. It eventually found itself on Kalia's cheek, attempting to reassure her that nothing terribly bad was happening.
"It's only a retro-virus, it'll just give you features of a cat... How that got mixed in with the hair pigment is beyond me and it should be interesting how you turn out considering it was an extract of a plant..." Sonia went off at a tangent for a moment, suddenly much more interested in watching the woman change than having sex with the woman for the moment. Her idea of reassurance also seemed to fall out.
"Okay, okay" She caught herself as Kalia pleaded. "After you're finished changing, I can try and change you back. But I'll need a blood sample and I'll have to fiddle around with another retro virus made from a few different animals to cancel out the visible changes... But..."
As she paused to let the words sink in, she began taking a bit more notice of Kalia's appearance. Another hand ran down the woman's chest almost enviously and a sly smile made eye contact.
"You know, so far it doesn't look half bad on you..."
"You mean you might not be able to change me back to normal?"
Kalia asked, sounding apprehensive. The idea of Sonia testing other viruses on her was not among those she favoured. Much could go wrong, even more so now that Kalia knew that Sonia had screwed up the hair dye project and was turning her into a cat! To make matters worse, Sonia seemed to think it suited her.
"You know, it took me a bit to get used to the vampire thing.. the cat thing? Sonia, that's gone too far"
She blurted out as tears started to form in her eyes. She had no idea why Sonia felt the need to change the way she looked. It felt almost as if Sonia wasn't happy with who Kalia was. Acting on impulse more than on any rational thought, which may have made her realise that it had not been Sonia's intention to turn her into anything but a green haired vampire, she turned away from her mentor and fled the basement lab.
It did not take long for her to into the first person... vampire... and simply sob on his shoulder, making him wonder who she was beyond the realisation that she was a fellow vampire, and obviously someone who knew someone in the mansion, given that Kalia had not appeared to enter through the front door.
