Personailty: Death is a firm beliver in logic and order. He refuses to take sides and does what he was created to do, seperate the soul from the body in order for the individual to pass on to the next world. He loves cats, has a soft spot for curry and a bit of fun every now and then.
Strength and power: Uhhh, Pretty much he can do anything he feels. He can stop time completely, he has the ability to prolong life in people as he has control over their life timers and he also has the ability to kill without the slightest effort, it is not his place to kill though, so he doesn't.
Weakness: ... None... Seriously, how do you kill what is the definition of your act?
History: Looong history... This is a breif one though:
**Spoiler if you haven't read Terry Pratchett's "Mort", "Reaper man", "Soul Music", "The Hogfather" and "Theif of Time"**
Death went through the ages doing what he was, with no feeling of time or anything. A few thousand years ago, he struck a deal with a powerful wizard who was afraid of his own mortality, he, Albert Malovich, was to become Death's personal servant in exchange for immortality.
A long time later, Death arrived at a site of a cart crash that had caught fire and killed all the occupants. One small girl survived and Death stared at her for a while. He did not feel pity, as he does not feel emotions, to this day, noone knows what was going through his head at the time, but he took the small infant and raised her as she was his own, naming her Issabella.
Issabella knew of this story and she knows that death cannot feel emotions, in her eyes, "Maybe he thought pity...". Death let her age somewhat until she was 16, she remained 16 for 32 years.
Some time later, Death was looking through the library of life books, the place where everyone has a book and it describes exactly what they do as they do it, writing their life story. He spotted a young boy, the son of a poor farmer, Mortimer.
Through a series of adventures, Mort was taken under Death's wing as his apprentice and botched an attempt badly, saving a princess who was supposed to die, killing her assassin instead. History began changing and Mort began to become death himself, Death apparently on vacation and becoming more human.
The council of wizards though, could see something wrong and performed the rite of Ashkante, to summon Death, under the order of Albert, who knew exactly what was going on and wanted Death to put Mort in his place.
Death appeared in the Unseen University and was breifed by Albert on the situation, who promptly took charge and caught Mort in the act, trying to 'fix' things before he found out. Mort wasn't pleased at the way Death acted and challenged him to a duel to the death, whoever would win became death himself, Mort wanting to change the world.
Death won the battle as Mort faught sportsman like and Death just faught. He showed Mort his lifetimer and told him that his life was to be taken by Death in this battle. As Death was about to kill him, he looked behind the small group who had banded against him and saw something, Susan Sto Helit. At that point, he turned the lifetimer upside down and changed history, making Issabella the heir the the throne of Sto Helit, taking place of the princess Mort had saved and Mort, her prince.
Some years later, Death met up with 'them' for the first time. The Auditors. They ran the universe and kept it in balance, but they hated humans and wanted them to cease to exist. Unfortunately for them, like Death, they were not allowed to interfere. So they decided to get rid of Death. They gave him a life timer and began creating their own Death, one who was allowed to interfere.
Death, who had lost his powers one by one to this new 'Death' had learnt alot of the human ways and began to think like them, something the Auditors didn't want their Death to know. This taught him the ability to be illogical, which he used to defeat this new Death as it knew all of Death's predictable moves and acted on them, yet Death was not predictable now.
Even more years later, Death met his grand-daughter, daughter of Issabella and Mort, who perished in an accident where their cart fell off a cliff. They both knew they would die then, and were offered immortality by Death himself. They refused, but Death still held something and made their deaths completely painless, their daughter Susan becoming an orphan.
Something was going on though, and there was another force that decided to step in, something more ancient then death himself. During 3 Days, a young boy rose up to be a great music star, bringing in a new form of music, dubbed "Music with Rocks in" But unlike other music, this was unnatural and began to control people's lives, something which Death would not stand for.
Susan and Death worked together, sort of, to get close to this as Susan unknowingly had taken over Death's powers and Death could not get them back. Eventually, after the band had ridden off to skip the country, their cart had veered off a cliff and they hung on for their lives.
Susan arrived, riding Death's horse to save them, but the music had trapped them all in it's own dimention. This allowed Death to regain his power and he arrived on the scene not so long after. The music proclaimed to Death that it would live on no matter what he done.
"You can't kill me."

Death played the guitar of the young boy, he played one chord which no mortal could play. He played the silence at the end of a song and trapped the music within the guitar, then he smashed it upon a rock, killing it.
After the disruption from this force for three days, Death, once again had to step in and change history around. The small boy, instead of becoming a rock star, became the local gardener at Susan's orphanage. His other two companions becoming bards and everyone else having not a clue about that they had missed 3 days in their lives.
More years passed and Susan became a house sitter as at that time, there was practically no room in the workforce for women.
Death and her met again, as the Auditors made another attempt to destroy human life. Hogswatch. There was something about that ritual, it was pure magic. The sun would not rise until the hogfather delivered all his presents to the children of the Discworld. The Auditors made their own hogfather to attempt to kill the real one, the sun never rising again.
The first Auditor fell at the hands of Death as he stopped the plan of them. Susan returned to her job and grew up a little more.
Not long after though, the monks of History discovered a small boy in Ank Morpork who could use the abilities they had as if he had been trained for hundreds of years. They arranged for him to travel to the temple and he was put under the watchful eye of Lu Tze.
At the same time, a middle aged man in Ank morpork was visited by a strange woman who offered him as much money as possible to create a clock that was absoutely accurate.
Lu Tze and his new apprentice, Lobsang, travelled to ank morpork to discover what was happening and Susan was on the case as well, both of the teams knowing something was wrong with time itself.
Just as they discovered what was going on, the clock had started and time stopped completely. Susan ordered the pair not to destroy the clock as it would shatter history and possibly screw everything up. The Auditors began to take over, becoming humans to see what all the fuss was about.
In the mean time, Death had rallied up his old companions, War, Pestialance and Famine. They waged a full scale war against the Auditors and were loosing due to their time spent living a human life and had too many weaknesses. At this point, the fifth rider of the apocolypse stepped in, Kaos.
He reminded them about who they were and that they had no weaknesses in reality, the Auditors pulling back somwhat.
Down on the Discworld, Susan and Lu Tze witnessed the meeting of the old clockmaker and the young boy and they merged together, becoming what they were supposed to be originally.
Susan then travelled through the void that surrounded the clock and met Time herself, discovering Lobsang was her son and he would have to take over.
Susan destroyed the clock and history was shattered, reality soon to follow. But lobsang took over and the small group returned to the Monks of History temple to repair history with Lobsang's powers before reality was destroyed.
Later on, Susan returned to her teaching job and met Lobsang at regular intervals. Eventually the pair got married and had a single child. Yuskei.
While Yuskei was 5 years old, Dante had gone insane and swore to kill Lina and destroy the rest of reality. Susan jumped in to stop him and she was killed, her power absorbed, but she trapped him within an unreachable realm for some time, passing on the responsibility to Yuskei, who the parents both knew he would by then be able to take him on.
Death witnessed Susan die and felt a burning hatred for Dante. He personally watched over Yuskei to protect him from any danger until he was old enough and strong enough to take him on.
Unfortunately, this was the perfect opportunity for an Auditor. One of them stepped in and attempted to kill Yuskei, setting the playing field up so perfectly that he would die no matter what. Death saw this and as Yuskei ran into a trucks path, he wisked Yuskei's soul off and placed it into an adaptable body that was on Senkyoku which was unfortunatly female.
It took a long time for the Auditors to discover where Yuskei was and by the time they did, Dante had already been defeated and they launched another full scale attack, opening the 6th realm and releasing the most horrid creatures in history.
Once again Death went to battle them and won, Yuskei sealing the opening to the tear with Dante's power. At this point, Death had discovered what Yuskei had done as he had become the same blood as Lina and refused to speak to him as this was against the rules and it was bad enough for Dante and Lina to exist.
Some time after, he discovered Yuskei had a child with a young woman. He decided he would take the child out of Yuskei's hands as he had thought Yuskei being has irresponsible as he was and Sayuru, a mere mortal would not be able to protect the child from the gods.
Death stormed off and has since been doing his routine job, ignoring all outside contact.
